Teens always want food.....always. At our last TAB meeting, it was decided that a Teens Taste the World Party might be just the thing for November.

Cynthia is a master egg roll maker, so she demonstrated the fine art, then kids tried their hand at making their own egg rolls. Cynthia fried them, of course, while the kids went into the other room for origami.

Table settings can be quite elaborate or very simple. In case any of these kids ever make it to the White House for dinner, they are now prepared. We covered the table with white paper and then talked them through drawing their place settings. The buffet table included Indian fare, Chinese, as well as some Ethiopian sponge bread, among other things.

The last activity was creating a trifle for dessert. Because it is holiday time, we used brownies and candy canes, for a festive treat.

Some were surprised that they had been eating vegetables without realizing it.
Yeah us!

After Hours Party

Teens love the After Hours events when they have the library to themselves. We almost always have a terrific group of kids that appreciate the fact that we have made plans for fun on a Friday night.

There was a table with paper airplane making from a book we purchased. It even had the paper to make the airplanes in various prints that were unusual.

We set up a painting table with sponges soaked with tempura paint. Using the erasers on pencils for a stamp, dot pictures were created.

Guitar Hero was set up in a separate room. We also had a silhouette paper set up so kids could dance while we made videos and took their pictures. Cynthia has a great idea for creating some life size silhouette's we will be using.

Pizza was served in the YA Room and was not nearly as messy as walking tacos.

We had Pumpkin Bowling with toilet paper and a stuffed pumpkin. Ping Pong was a big hit (pun intended) with a game that can be set up and taken down very easily. Lego's were also laid out for those who chose to do a bit of building.

We played "Chair Trivia" at the end of the evening and it was fun, with just the right amount of activity and team effort.

Teen Programming

Welcome! We want to share and save our teen events, and this is a great way to do just that. So here we are with pictures, programs that worked, some that did not, plans we are making, and more to ideas each month.

Check in from time to time and share your own ideas, too.
